T Magazine February 2011 issue featuring Deborah Pagani Fine Jewelry Grace Earrings, and interview with the designer.
Deborah Pagani, a willowy Manhattan-based jewelry designer, may well be her own best model. A fashion lover who's usually clad in cutting-edge ensembles by Azzedine Alaia, Haider Ackermann and Rick Owens, she often gets stopped in shops and restaurants by women who want to know where she got her jewelry. I've been tempted to sell things right off my body, she jokes. Pagani (left, in a Versace dress and her own jewelry) describes her Queen Bee collection as a cross between Joan Crawford and Anita Pallenberg. I don't like classic stones by themselves, she says. Instead, she mixes diamonds, sapphires and amethysts with moodier materials like jasper agate, purple turquoise, Nubian opals and moonstones. My pieces are a bit dark, but dark in a sophisticated way. The earrings above are $16,105 at Ikram, in Chicago.
